Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran is among ABC's original Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink too much, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran struggled in school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
